Intercollegiate Elocution competition

Inter-collegiate elocution competition held at DBCK
An inter-collegiate elocution competition on energy conservation was organized by Don Bosco College, Kohima in collaboration with Nagaland state designated agency for energy conservation, Kohima at DBCK Campus on 30th November at 9.30 am. Twelve colleges of Kohima district participated in the event. The programme commenced with a prayer by Fr. Alexander Manayil SDB and it was followed by welcome speech by Dr. Velhou Koza Convener. The Bosco music society captivated the audience with two melodious songs. Er. I.V. Chishi Chief Electrical Inspector, NSDA, Kohima was the keynote speaker for the event. In his address he insisted the audience to save energy and this he did by requesting the organizers to put off the lights in the hall. He made the audience to realize that the sunlight is sufficient for the programme. Further he said that we must use God given light rather than artificial lights. It is highly energy saving to go for CFL or LED bulbs. By saving energy we can tell the next generation that “for your tomorrow we scarified our today.” Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer did the role of the moderator. The judges for the competition were Mrs. Meyimenl NSDA, Nedilhoutuo Neibu Sechii, Journalist, Eatern mirror, and Mr. Benjong Longchar Vice President ANCSU. Among the winners, Yinjun C. Naam of Kohima Science College captured the first postion, Vesülϋ Rhakho, Don Bosco College Kohima secured the second position, and Milepo Vese of Model Christian College obtained the third position. The Consolation prizes were awarded to Sanglekhamba of Japfü Christian college, Neipukhrienuo Pienyϋ of Baptist College, and Ghukrloli S.C Sumi of Kros College. The winners were given cash prize and certificates by the guest speaker. 1st Prize Rs 10000, 2nd Prize Rs 7000, 3rd Prize Rs. 5000 and three consolation prizes of Rs 1000 each. The prizes for the competition were sponsored by NSDB. The participants were taken up by the hospitality and the cordial atmosphere of DBCK. The college hall was decorated by the fine arts club of DBCK and the volunteers for the programme were initiated by Rovers and rangers of DBCK. The programme was chaired by Ms. Jarani Mao, Assistant professor DBCK.
